Spaghetti Dinner and Auction
A spaghetti
feed dinner and bull riding event are scheduled to honor the
late bull fighter, Donny Martin who died July 1st.
When: Saturday, July 19

Penn Valley Rodeo Grounds

Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and dinner
begins at 6 p.m.
Cost:
Tickets for the spaghetti dinner are $15
free to children under 6

What happened to Donny?
Cottonwood bull fighter and 8
time CCPRA Bullfighter of the Year, Donny Martin was injured on
June 15
Donny Martin, 40, of Cottonwood was hospitalized in “critical,
but stable” condition following injuries suffered at the
California High School Rodeo Association’s state finals in
Bishop.
Martin was taken by air ambulance to a hospital in Nevada, where
medical personnel on Monday, June 23, gave his condition as
“critical, but stable.”
While other cowboys were feeding bulls on the evening of Sunday,
June 15, one bull slammed into a gate causing it to fall on top
of Matt Mello of Cottonwood.
Martin, a bull fighter by profession and training, immediately
tried to deflect the bull to keep it from getting loose and
ended up being hit with the animal’s full force right in the
chest, knocking him to the ground, witnesses said.
Martin hit his head in the fall and suffered multiple skull
fractures as well as swelling of the brain, a hospital
spokesperson said.
Donny passed away Tuesday,
July 1 at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, NV, as a
result of his injuries.
